Women in the New Testament and Early Church

From 26-30 January 2026, Professor Lynn Cohick will teach an intensive course in Dunedin entitled Women in the New Testament and Early Church. Lynn is Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Director of the Houston Theological Seminary at Houston Christian University.

Cost: The fees are yet to be set for 2026, but the cost for BIBS 324 in 2025 is $1,040.70 and for BIBS 423 is $1,315.10.
The course can also be taken for audit for $600 through the Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership (KCML).

This course will explore women’s participation in and contributions to the Christian story in the first five centuries and discuss women’s participation in the church today. Fees and travel subsidies are available to PCANZ ministers in good standing.

Subsidies for Presbyterian Ministers

For Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa NZ (PCANZ) ministers (in good standing) studying for audit or credit, a 75% subsidy for the course fees and a travel subsidy is available. An application for both subsidies can be accessed via the following link: study grant. These grants will not be paid until the event has commenced and your attendance confirmed.

Applications must be received by close of business on the 19th January.

The travel subsidy is based on your geographical location – please refer below to find the level of grant available to you prior to submitting your application.

Travel subsidy

  • Otago (more than 100km from Dunedin), Southland, Canterbury: $250
  • Top of South Island and West Coast: $350
  • North Island: $500
