Discerning the Work and Presence of Christ
Contributed by: Rev Dr Geoff new
By drawing on Jesus’s pattern from the feeding miracles and last supper, this guide shows how the formula of take–bless–break–give can help us discern the work and presence of Jesus in our and other people’s lives.
Discerning the Work and Presence of Christ
When Jesus took the bread to feed the 5000, 4000, and at the Last Supper, he took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it. Using this rhythm (take–bless–break–give) and locating it in the story of the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–35), we find that we have a means to understand the work of God in our lives. This understanding also serves as a model for pastoral care.
